This poster was created to promote the KAWS: FAMILY exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), showcasing the work of renowned Brooklyn-based artist KAWS (Brian Donnelly). Known for his bold, cartoon-inspired sculptures and pop culture reinterpretations, this exhibition blends contemporary art with mass media aesthetics. The poster serves not only as an informational piece but as an extension of the exhibition’s visual and thematic language—playful, bold, and accessible.
The design process for the KAWS: FAMILY exhibition poster focused on capturing the bold, playful essence of KAWS’s work while maintaining clarity and impact. A monochrome palette was chosen to evoke a gallery-like sophistication and allow the featured sculpture to stand out as the visual centerpiece. Bold, oversized typography commands attention and mirrors the artist’s use of scale, while the angled "FAMILY" text in the background adds depth and movement. The layout follows a clear hierarchy, with key information—dates, location, and visitor guidance—organized for quick readability. By blending contemporary art visuals with clean, modern structure, the poster effectively communicates both the tone of the exhibition and practical visitor details
